ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY:

Moreno Boxing was founded in 2010 by amateur boxing champion Carlos Moreno. What began as small group classes and personal training sessions in a park in Southeast London quickly grew into a thriving boxing community.

By 2012, Moreno Boxing had expanded into the London South Bank University Sports Centre, where the gym continued to grow and attract more members.

In 2015, we took a major step forward by acquiring a small fitness studio called GoFit LTD in Dalston, securing the lease, equipment, and client base — establishing our long-term home in Hackney, East London.

Following the lockdown period, we relocated in 2021 to a larger facility at Stamford Works in Dalston, just a short distance from our original studio. This move allowed us to expand our boxing classes, training programs, and Fight Camp events.

Throughout our journey, we remain grateful for the strong Moreno Boxing community and for the faith that has guided us every step of the way.

ABOUT CARLOS MORENO

Carlos Moreno – Amateur Boxing Career

Moreno Boxing founder Carlos Moreno began boxing at the age of 15. At 18, he had his first amateur bout in 2007, facing Carl Marsh, the son of former world champion Terry Marsh.

After a strong run of victories in 2008, Carlos entered the National Novice Championships, reaching the semi-finals where he narrowly lost to David Leo on a split decision.

In 2009, Carlos won gold at the Haringey Box Cup, one of Europe’s most respected amateur boxing tournaments. He also earned two international medals, won the North West London Elite title, and reached the London finals of the Elite ABAs.

Carlos concluded his amateur career in 2014 with 34 fights, finishing on a high by winning the Elite Portuguese National Title in his final bout.

PRO BOXING:

Following a successful amateur career, Carlos Moreno began sparring high-level professionals including Conor Benn and Ohara Davies while training with coaches Tony Sims and Peter Sims at Matchroom Boxing as he considered turning professional.

During this period, Carlos also trained with legendary boxer Nigel Benn and had the opportunity to meet several icons of the sport, including Shannon Briggs, Dereck Chisora, David Haye, and Teddy Atlas in New York while exploring the possibility of turning professional in the United States.

After retiring from competition, Carlos focused fully on his boxing coaching career, working with elite fighters and public figures. He has trained world-level professionals including Ohara Davies, as well as celebrities such as Professor Green, Andrew Garfield, and Richard Ayoade.

Today, Carlos is a qualified professional boxing trainer and most recently worked in the corner of Ohara Davies during his fight against Adam Azim in 2024.
